I think I like rivers best because they are the only form of water which suggests transportation in such an immediate way. Always undulating, eddying, moving forward. Impossible not to think about the future in the same breath as constancy. I guess what I’m saying is that after years of living bounded in at the edges by oceans, it feels good to be back in the land of rivers.

There’s some of that fluid power in this song. Escaping forward. Channelled. A roiling sense of purpose under the glassy surface.
