I’m sitting in a shaft of sunlight in front of the big window in our living room. It is too hot and too bright. The sun and I are squinting at each other. We are engaged in some sort of Icarian standoff which I will eventually lose. But for now it is too hot, too bright – too resplendent, too alive, too sweet, too beautiful – to move.
