I’ve been in the mood for pop music lately. For its melodrama and for its smooth edges.
I like how each note is neatly defined, and declares confidently where it begins and ends. There is pain, but not angst. No out of place buzzing, or self conscious hiss. Not that those things don’t have their time and place, just not this morning, with me.
Maybe it’s just that it’s spring time, but this morning I’m looking for something that breathes. The more spacious, the better. Something with glass walls you can see inside. Sharp, clean corners. Like an ice cube. Floating around in mint and citrus. A refreshment. A cool wash. A closing of burning eyes.
Anyway, that’s where I’m at, and this song is meeting me there.
