TUNES // Al Riggs – Godkiller
As the first soft flakes fall, the doe in the forest contemplates death. Not in a romantic way. How the ground freezes and squeezes the green out of it and then covers itself in a feathersoft crystalline blanket that looks like sugar, but which is cold and bitter. It hardly seems fair. For something so unforgiving to look so sweet. Before long it will be so cold that the corners of her eyes will fill with ice, which when they melt they will look like tears.
Godkiller is the title track from Al Riggs’ newest album, a dark and foreboding beauty with love growing up from of all the cracks. Godkiller is out this week, Friday January 25. You can pre-order it here.
