remember the childhood game of holding onto each other’s arms while spinning around? the centrifugal force scrambling our bellies while the weight of a friend kept us from skittering off into the pavement. and at the peak letting our heads fall back, eyes closed, disappearing into that sensation of not knowing.

i broke my nose once doing that but i do think it was probably good preparation for adulthood.
