TUNES // The Pirouettes – 2016 – En ce temps lá
Post by Misha
Every so often a song makes its listener into an archeologist in search of an artifact. A window into some real or imagined time. Though less than two years old, this song feels almost impossibly of another era. It could not have been made today; there’s not enough grime on the window.
The Pirouettes are a Parisian couple (of course they are) who go by the names Leo Bear Creek and Vickie Chérie. Their most recent album, 2016’s Carrément Carrément is a soft, shiny thing; its deceptively simple bedroom-laptop tunes give way to a textured and surprising (and very very French) synth pop record. Buy it here.
