TUNES // Miya Folick – God Is A Woman

With her 2015 EP, Strange Darling, Miya Folick demonstrated a resumé ready to take the music world by storm. Her finely-honed genre blending – cycling through decades and wide-ranging influences with truly dizzying skill – paired with a lovely voice and formidable songwriting, made her easily one of the most exciting artists on the 2016 radar. And though Folick has been rather quiet this year, the two singles she’s released, “Pet Body” and “God Is A Woman” only serve to heighten the intrigue.
On “God Is A Woman,” in particular, Folick shows off an incredible vocal power only hinted at in earlier songs. On Strange Darling, she often evoked a young Cat Power; here she channels Florence Welch.
