TUNES // SOHN – Conrad

Almost exactly two years ago, SOHN‘s “Artifice” stopped me dead in my tracks. It was one of those songs that managed to be anomalous and familiar at the same time. Driving syncopation, soulful falsetto, hard-to-place sounds, and vocal chopping were all prominently featured. In other words, it was really, really my kind of thing.
But after his 2014 LP, Tremors, the British producer sort of fell off my radar – another innovative electronic brooder from across the ocean that somehow got lost in my ‘Ones To Watch’ files.
Enter “Conrad.” The catchy blues-pop tune marks something of a departure from the steadfastly anxious sound of SOHN’s previous work, moving his oeuvre into a delightfully radio-ready space.
