Post-election-results last night, wide awake in the dark and trying not to think about the future, I happened upon a snippet of this song. The album cover struck me as the sliver of light that might be waiting at the end of a great and terrible darkness. There’s such a long way to go and we’re still at the very beginning, so who knows, but it helped me finally fall asleep anyway.
Gap Dream is the one-man project of Gabe Fulvimar. The multi-instrumentalist recorded This Is Gap Dream on his MacBook in a warehouse in Fullerton. The album is a dark and heady mix of lo-fi rock ‘n’ roll, Super Nintendo samples, and wistful pop nostalgia, released over the summer on Burger Records.
