TUNES // Topaz Jones – Howlin' To The Moon

Posted on Oct 28, 2016By Misha

Topaz Jones dropped his long-awaited debut full-length, Arcade, this morning and I was not ready. The album is front-to-back fire, full of the versatility promised by his early singles, “Powerball”, “Winona”, and “Tropicana”. On Arcade, Topaz channels Chance as easily as Dev Hynes, moving expressively between hip-hop, funk, and R&B.
The opening cut, “Howlin’ To The Moon,” has a little bit of all of it. Danger, passion, snappy production, clever verses, and the most danceable, falsetto-ed chorus I’ve heard in a while. It’s also worth sending out into the universe that I’d really love to see a Halloween release of a Thriller-esque music video for this. Just sayin’.
Fave line: “I think you the type of meat a cannibal would eat”
