Big Thief – Paul
Big Thief’s ambitiously titled album, Masterpiece, is the perfect kind of comforting melancholy. It’s warm, thoughtful, fuzzy, and perfect for late nights driving aimlessly around the city. Paul is my personal favorite soundtrack for this particular activity. It has one of the loveliest choruses in recent memory and a lyric that sticks in my throat every time I try to sing it:
“In the blossom of the months / I was sure that I’d get driven off with thought / So I swallowed all of it / as I realized there was no one who could kiss away my shit.”
